Project Detail:
Polymerizations of monomer into its corresponding conjugated polymer directly in solid state will eliminate the need to derivatize the monomer with any solubility enhancing groups and solution processing steps usually required to fabricate polymers into usable forms. Search and synthesis of such suitable monomers for this solid state polymerizations and measurements of their optical and electrochemical properties are the main procedures of this project.
