Ralstonia solanacearum is a bacterial plant pathogen, which causes wilt disease in a broad range of hosts, including tomatoes, chilies, potatoes, and gingers. A method to control plant diseases is the use of biocontrol bacteria. In our preliminary study, we have isolated some local biocontrol bacteria with these capabilities. However, the mechanisms of how they work against the pathogen or how the pathogen might respond to their presence have been largely unknown. The knowledge of which will be the focus of the project and is needed for long-term triumph over the pathogen and environmental sustainability.
